Growing up means becoming the
person you dreamed of....when I was a child I use to sit in front of the TV and
watch Working Girl (when my parents left me with a babysitter). Watching Tess
(Melanie Griffith) transform from the secretary to the high-power executive was
mesmerizing to me.
Her
transformation started with a simple conversation and sequin dress. Her boss,
Katherine Parker (Sigourney Weaver), bluntly suggests: “Dress shabbily and
they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman” (Coco
Chanel). And from that moment on, Tess's life is forever changed. Her
transformation starts with her attempt to style herself into the person she
believes she wants to be. In the end she gets the job, Harrison Ford, and the
power suit of her dreams!
This
modern day fairytale for the working girl reminds us that style is not
something to forget, but an instrument to aid us in our own personal growth. We
live our lives motivated by our goals, and at times our professional and
personal pursuits can distract us from sleep, bathing, and our clothes. But our
exterior should always compliment our motivation, and I believe when we dress
well, we feel better and accomplish so much more than we ever dreamed
possible.
I
believe my style is a genuine reflection of my dreams. My whole life I would
fantasize about different roles, but in all these roles I was well-dressed.
This blog will allow me to share my style reflections along with my personal
and professional aspirations and demonstrate how style can inspire self-confidence,
creativity, and poise. Thanks for following.
Enjoy!
